Land Acknowledgement
A sincere acknowledgement of the land where we live, work, and build relationships.
Our acknowledgement
Pride in Care is based in Ottawa, Ontario, on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People. The Algonquin Anishinaabe People have cared for this land and waters since time immemorial, and continue to live, work, and build community here today.
We honour the Algonquin Anishinaabe People, their enduring presence, and their longstanding relationship with this land. We also acknowledge the harms caused by colonialism and the ongoing impacts of colonization on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across what is now Canada.
More than words
A land acknowledgement is one small part of building respectful relationships. We do not want these words to become a routine statement without meaning. We are committed to listening, learning, and continuing to reflect on how our work, our choices, and our relationships can contribute to a more just and inclusive future.
As a 2SLGBTQI+ inclusion consulting and education business, we understand that inclusion must be grounded in humility, accountability, and a willingness to keep learning. We recognize that Indigenous people are not a single community and that Indigenous Two-Spirit people hold important, distinct experiences and knowledge that deserve respect and recognition.
Continuing our learning
We encourage everyone to learn more about the land where they live and work, the history and present-day realities of Indigenous peoples, and what meaningful allyship can look like in everyday practice. We are continuing this learning ourselves and welcome the responsibility to do so with care and consistency.

Our ongoing responsibility
We offer this acknowledgement with gratitude and humility. We know that reconciliation is an ongoing process, not a destination or a single statement. We will keep making room for learning, reflection, and action in the way we show up for our clients, our communities, and one another.
